Training at the Hotel Alte Werft
The right apprenticeship for curious, energetic and open people.
The hotel and catering industry is certainly not for everyone. How often can you hear – you have to work on weekends too – or – this job is totally stressful, and, and, and.
We in the hotel and catering industry know these phrases well enough. But anyone who really loves this job can only smile about it, because in the end, anyone who works here only has advantages that open almost every door for them:
1. In our company, you will learn how to be organized and stress-resistant without sinking into chaos, because we support you every step of the way towards your goal. After that, no one will fool you anymore.
2. In our company we are like a big family and even the smallest cog is extremely important for everything to run smoothly. And you can feel that too.
3. A lot of people come together in our company, and we enjoy the diversity – because diversity is important to us.
4. In our company, the trainees are important, and we make sure that during the 3 years of training they go through all the departments that are relevant to them for the future and learn a lot in the process.
5. We also take time for our trainees and support them with all exam preparations.
6. It is also important to us that our trainees do well in school and ensure that they are well rested for school. And if you can show good grades in your report card, we will also reward you with a bonus.
7. And last but not least: Anyone who trains in hotel management, restaurant management/event organization or cooking – the world is open to him in the end, because dual training in this area is in demand worldwide.

I really enjoy my training at the Hotel Alte Werft. Every day I get to know new situations that give me wisdom and experiences for the future. You also always get support from your colleagues, with whom there is a pleasant working atmosphere.
The training I was able to enjoy in this house was very instructive and I was always supported. Both during and after my training, the working atmosphere was always pleasant. Even in stressful times, working with the team was great fun.
I am very satisfied with the company. I completed my training as a restaurant specialist here and couldn't have chosen a better hotel/restaurant. The team is very helpful, very dynamic and also up for little fun. I would always recommend the company as a training company.
I am currently completing my training at the Hotel Alte Werft. You can get into every area and learn a lot from the friendly and entertaining employees. The work is very varied and not monotonous. You get along very well with all the employees.

About the training company
The former mechanical engineering hall, where the traditional Papenburg company Meyer Werft manufactured ship parts from 1870 until the company moved in 1975, is now home to the Hotel Alte Werft with 122 comfortably furnished standard, superior and deluxe rooms. The Hotel Alte Werft also offers event rooms for up to 1,200 people in various sizes. From the recreated New York theatre with red velvet and brick, the Kesselschmiede with its industrial character, event rooms for galas or our Schnürboden restaurant. With its unique ambience, the Hotel Alte Werft offers the ideal setting for cultural and business events as well as private functions.
Models of Meyer ships decorate the walls, and the travelling crane with its huge hook rests under the glass roof in a trendy peppermint colour. Mighty punching and drilling machines dominate the foyer and the Schnürboden restaurant. These relics of the industrial age give our hotel an unmistakable character. A fascinating blend of past and modern awaits you.
