The Hotel Alte Werft was opened at the beginning of 1995 in the engineering hall in which the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Emsland, manufactured compressors from 1870 until the company moved in 1975. The travelling crane with its huge hook rests under the glass roof in a poppy peppermint coat of paint. Models of Meyer ships decorate our walls. Mighty punching and drilling machines dominate the foyer and the restaurant Schnürboden. These relics of the industrial age give our hotel an unmistakable character.
